Why Choose a Stainless Steel Nameplate Over a Slate Sign?
Choose a stainless steel nameplate if you need a modern, industrial, or commercial-grade sign with a precise, consistent finish — ideal for machinery labels, office nameplates, equipment tags, or contemporary home signage. The laser-marked black contrast on brushed silver is sharp, professional, and highly legible at small sizes. Choose a slate house sign if you prefer a natural, rustic aesthetic more suited to traditional homes and garden settings.
Ideal For

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the engraving permanent?
- Yes — fibre laser marking chemically alters the surface of the steel, creating a permanent black contrast that won't fade, peel, or rub off, even with regular handling or outdoor exposure.
- Is it suitable for outdoor use?
- Yes. Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant and weatherproof, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications including gates, walls, machinery, and garden features.
- Can I engrave a logo or detailed artwork?
- Yes. We can engrave logos, text, QR codes, and detailed artwork. Vector files (SVG, AI, EPS) give the sharpest results at small sizes. We'll send a mock-up before engraving anything.
- How is it mounted?
- The plate comes with 2 pre-drilled holes (approx. 3mm) for screw or rivet fixing. It can also be mounted with adhesive (not included).
- How long does delivery take?
- Production takes 1–2 working days after design approval. UK delivery is typically 1–3 working days. International shipping times vary by destination.
- Can I order a different shape or size?
- Yes — contact us for bespoke sizes, shapes, or bulk orders. We can accommodate rectangular, square, and custom-cut plates.
- What's the difference between laser engraving and laser marking?
- On stainless steel, we use laser marking — a process that creates a permanent black oxide layer on the surface without removing material. This gives a precise, high-contrast finish ideal for detailed logos and small text.
Please Note
- Engraving tone may differ slightly depending on material batch
- Small size variations (±1–2mm) may occur during cutting
- Colour may appear different due to device display settings
